CULTURAL COMPETENCY TRAININGS

Welcome to Summer.

While summer officially arrived a couple of weeks ago, for me, summer truly starts in July. Maybe that’s because here in the PNW, the weather doesn’t always correlate with my warm and sunny expectations of the calendar’s declaration of summer.

Get your CEUs and increase your cultural competency. Only $35 for a CEU.
— Seattle Therapists Corner

For most of us, this summer will be lived differently than summers past. Many of us are living in areas with restrictions on activities, and most of us are wrestling through the social messages of justice and the lack of equality and safety for so many Americans.

As therapists, we are not only trying to figure out how to navigate these new waters for ourselves and our personal relationships but also helping our clients who are leaning to us for guidance and support around these issues as well.

At Seattle Therapists Corner, we recognize the challenges you are facing, and we want to support you. We are considering hosting some virtual trainings to help you in this work and would LOVE to hear from you to see if you are interested.

Please consider filling out the form below. We’ll give you a $5 discount if you send us this form and decide to attend one of the classes. That means it will only cost you $30 for a CEU.

PLUS - if you attend one of these trainings, you will be supporting the healing of racial trauma in our local community because 3% of the proceeds will be donated to the WA Therapy Fund. You can learn more about this fund below or by clicking the link.

So, not only will you gain insight and skills to help you become a culturally competent therapist and get CEUs for your license requirements, but you’ll also be contributing immediately to the healing of the racial trauma black people in our community have suffered.

PLEASE SUPPORT THIS IMPORTANT WORK AND GIVE US YOUR FEEDBACK BY FILLING OUT THE SURVEY. THANK YOU!

WA THERAPY FUND

For The Healing of Racial Trauma Experienced By Black People In King County

A Note From WA Therapy Fund founder Ashly McGirt, June 2020:

There have been a number of global wellness funds to support the mental health needs of the community during these challenging times. I have found that those funds are quickly used within the first few days of announcements. I support these causes and have personally been able to support clients using them.⁣

I would, however, like to raise money for at least 100 Black women and men, in #Washingtonstate to have access to  #freementalhealth  services.⁣ I am choosing to highlight my birth state so that individuals, couples, and families in Washington state can have access to these funds directly, without being waitlisted on a nationwide list.⁣ ⁣

These funds will cover services during this critical time of intense racial trauma. I am also looking to gather at least 40 black culturally responsive therapists that could take on 2 -3 clients. ⁣ ⁣⁣Therapy is expensive and insurance plans often offer low reimbursement rates for clinicians. Let’s alleviate this financial burden for our Black clients and therapists providing #essentialservices.
